I bought this pencil sharpener based on the great reviews here. For the first several months, it worked wonderfully -- nice sharp point, quick sharpening, etc. However, all of a sudden, one day it just wouldn't work. The light came on (so it was obviously receiving power), but the motor wouldn't turn. I called Panasonic as it was still under warranty, and was told to send it to the service center. About 2 months later, I received a refurbished replacement. This sharpener again worked great for a while and then just quit. After calling and emailing Panasonic *numerous* times (always to transferred 3-4 times and be disconnected and repeated emails simply ignored), I was finally able to get a hold of someone. I was informed that because I had no paperwork other than the warranty that came with the refurbished sharpener (because I wasn't sent any), the warranty on the "new" one was only 90 days, which was passed because it had taken so long for me to actually get a hold of someone. They did offer to repair it for me for $25 plus the cost of shipping the thing twice. Needless to say, I declined. Both sharpeners were great for the limited time they lasted, but for sharpener that costs over $40, I would expect a great deal longer functionality. In addition, the customer service (or lack thereof) alone will dissuade me from ever buying a Panasonic product again. It's simply too much trouble and lack of actual customer service to risk buying a product of dubious quality.

I've had 3 different electric pencil sharpeners before. This one actually does what it's supposed to do. It sharpens pencils quick and with relatively little noise when compared to other brands. My office uses other Panasonic pencil sharpeners and those work great as well. Don't mess around with other brands find a Panasonic model that fits your needs. You won't be disappointed.

Pretty quiet, compared to three other sharpeners I've had before. Sharpens pencils quickly and consistently. Great product, well worth the higher price.

I ordered this pencil sharpener for my daughter who teaches elementary school. She needed a good sharpener that can stand up to the very heavy usage of kids with their pencils. So far, so good. She told me it is working fine and no complaints... I never realized the problems with pencil sharpeners and heavy usage, but it is a big deal. I'm so glad I found this one for her and it is working out so well.
